Each year more than 40 Denver celebrities shadow crossing guards on duty at DPS schools the morning of National Walk/Roll to School Day. Celebrities wear reflective yellow vests with their name on the back (like a football jersey).

The celebrities hand out raffle tickets to students for a chance to win lunch with the principal or their favorite staff member. Not only does this event get kids excited about walking/rolling to school, it also highlights the important service that crossing guards provide to students and communities – they cross all ages and abilities! Crossing guards are especially important where busy roads block safe access of otherwise-walkable routes to school.

Thank you media!
